So says various news outlets, that the strike of BART train operators and other workers, that would have crippled Bay Area transportation for hundreds of thousands of commuters, has been averted.

According to KTVU, San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom, Congresswoman Barbara Lee and BART officials announced a tentative deal to avoid a shutdown of the system Monday morning … Bart board vice president James Fang of San Francisco told reporters he believes that there has been a tentative agreement between BART management officials and members of the Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1555 that will avert a strike planned for midnight.

Yeah, thousands of people around the bay area and I can get to work today! From what I understand though, the union still has to vote on the newest contract so we're not out of the woods yet…
